JOB POSTING Formed in 1988, Matawa First Nations Management (Matawa) is a Tribal Council providing services to nine member communities in Northern Ontario. The organization is dedicated to providing its members with advisory and support services in the areas of communications, economic development, education, finance and business, health, membership and technical services. Matawa is accepting applications for a six-month term contract for the position of:
Post Secondary Program Assistant Matawa Education Department Position Summary: Reporting to the Education Department Manager the Post Secondary Program Assistant will provide day-to-day support and administrative assistance to the Post Secondary Program. The Post Secondary Program Assistant will work closely with the Post Secondary Coordinator, Post Secondary Students, Post Secondary Institutes and Matawa Post Secondary Advisory Committee to support student learning, achievement and success. Qualifications: The ideal applicant must have post-secondary education in Bachelor of Social Work, Social Work Diploma, or Bachelor of Education or related student counseling. Relevant work experience (minimum of five years in administration, specially counseling), General office procedure, budgeting and bookkeeping. Interested applicants will be asked to demonstrate a capacity for the following: skills and knowledge of computers and other office applications (word processing, spreadsheets, and databases). Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with post-secondary students, administration, government and First Nations. Members from the Matawa member communities will have priority consideration for this position. Ability to communicate in Ojibway, Oji-Cree or Cree is considered an asset.
