DIETITIAN Dietitian – Temporary Full Time Vacancy January 7 – April 5, 2013 Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Thunder Bay Aboriginal Health Access Centre, the Dietitian is responsible for providing comprehensive health education / programming and counselling services to individuals and their families with diabetes and plans, develops / implements and evaluates the nutritional education of individuals. The Dietitian functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team. Skills / Requirement • Bachelor’s Degree from an educational institute recognized by the Canadian Dietetic Association • Minimum 2-3 years relevant work experience in a community-based and/or primary health care setting • Membership in good standing with the Dietitians of Canada • Registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario • Certification as a Diabetes Educator is preferred • Experience in presentation, facilitating and teaching in a group setting, preferably in diabetes education • Effective crisis intervention and treatment plan development • Ability to counsel • Ability to build and maintain effective therapeutic relations with a diverse range of individuals • Ability to work with a high degree of independence while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team • Ability to problem solve, exercise independent judgement and assess situations • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are essential • Proficiency in computer and good keyboarding skills are essential • Use of a private vehicle, valid driver’s licence and appropriate insurance are a condition of employment • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening Check • Knowledge and experience in identifying community-based programs, services and resources • Knowledge of culture, urban Aboriginal community and experience working with Aboriginal persons • Ability to speak Ojibway / Cree is an asset Please submit your resume, covering letter, proof of qualifications and three work references to: Ms. Charlene Baglien Human Resources / Program Manager By e-mail to: cbaglien@anishnawbe-mushkiki.org By fax: (807) 345-5697 On or before noon Friday, December 14, 2012
