Outreach and Engagement Worker
Thunder Bay and Area Victim Services (TBAVS) has provided
immediate emotional and practical assistance to victims of crime and
tragedy - including human trafficking cases, sexual violence and
harassment - with victim consent, police or emergency services
contact TBAVS, victims may also contact TBAVS directly, 24 hours, 7
days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assisting individuals who are victims of crime or
tragic circumstances
• Engage with victims of human trafficking to prevent further
victimization and trauma
• Provide emotional support
• Provide referrals to community and government services
• Responding to crisis calls and providing dispatch
• Brief telephone crisis intervention and needs assessment
• Providing support to a team of crisis workers and
emergency responders
Qualifications should include: a post-secondary degree or diploma
in the social services field, complimented by experience working with
vulnerable populations. Applicants should demonstrate a good
knowledge of community resources and possess skills and experience
in crisis assessment, intervention strategies, and needs assessment.
The incumbent shall also have excellent interpersonal,
communication, and problem-solving skills. You must be available for
shift work. A valid driver’s license is considered an asset. Police
Clearance Certificate is required.

candidates to join our Board of Directors.
As well we are looking for caring and compassionate individuals to join
our team of volunteers!
No one is prepared to become a victim of crime. It is a traumatic and
difficult experience. Thunder Bay and Area Victim Services recognizes
these hardships and is committed to providing victims with the support
and services they need, in the communities where they live.
As part of our team you will:

• Gain crisis intervention skills
