THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NIPIGON
DEPUTY CLERK/DEPUTY TREASURER/BY-LAW ENFORCEMENT
The Corporation of the Township of Nipigon is seeking an experienced
individual to provide essential administrative services to Council, staff
and the public in support of the implementation and administration of
Council decisions and the provision of information to the public. As well
as, to enforce municipal by-laws and to obviate violations or contraventions
of same.
Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Deputy ClerkTreasurer/By-Law Enforcement Officer is responsible for assisting the
C.A.O. with the daily municipal financial and administrative management
and operation. Including but not limited to financial statements, budget
preparation, overseeing the day to day operations including accounts
payable/receivable, payroll and executing the statutory responsibilities
of the Clerk or Treasurer as required. Responsibilities will also include
By-Law Enforcement which includes Property Standards, Building Code,
Licencing and general By-Law Enforcement responsibilities.
The preferred candidate may have municipal administrative experience,
should have a university or college degree, or diploma in business
administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal and public relation
skills, the ability to deal well with the public and respond quickly and
accurately to enquiries. An accounting designation and/or working
towards an AMCTO designation would be an asset. Understanding of the
Municipal Act, Assessment Act and other provincial legislation as they
apply to the municipality and tax collection may be beneficial, along with
working knowledge of the Provincial Offences Act and regulatory by-laws
would be an asset.
